Produced by the Latino Theater Company at the LATC
Skeletons aren’t the only things that come out of the closet in this award-winning Latino swansong about the glamorous death of Moises, his friends call him Moe. Mortality never seemed so fabulous as he invites his closest friends over for a “going away party for good party”. Demented fantasies abound as his alter ego, a torch singing drag queen, tempts him into his famous final scene.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING
The Emperor’s Last Performance (Mar 26 – Apr 4)
The Emperor’s Last Performance traces the life and career of pioneer African-American actor Charles Sidney Gilpin and his rise to fame in Eugene O’Neill’s The Emperor Jones. Charles Gilpin’s performance in Eugene O’Neill’s play, The Emperor Jones, propelled him to the height of his craft and at the same time made Eugene O’Neill one of the greatest playwrights of his time. But the role of “Brutus Jones” in The Emperor Jones was not Charles Gilpin’s greatest performance. His greatest performance was in pretending that he liked the role that made him a star.
The Einstein Plan (May 23)
Albert Einstein suggested that if as little as 2% of the population engaged in non-violent civil disobedience, the government would not be able to operate as usual. In The Einstein Plan’s interactive format, a character simply called “The Exile” directly engages the audience and invites them to participate in creating their political future.
LOL! Latina on the Loose! (Jun 18 – Jun 26)
Mina Olivera’s LOL! Latina on the Loose! is a side-splitting comedy that takes you on a journey from Brazil to Switzerland to El Salvador to America, and straight to your heart. You’ll join her on her journey and experience the challenges she faces coming to America by herself as a teenager, and the tests she confronts in retaining her larger-than-life grandmother’s biggest teaching: “Show them your worth!”
The Slumber of Reason (Jun 26)
The Latina Dance Project’s new dance theater piece. The creative springboard for this work is Spanish painter Francisco de Goya’s prints, “Los Caprichos.” With a stark intensity unprecedented in the history of art, these prints convey the contradictions of a historical period when religious fundamentalism and paranoia prevailed over reason. They are joined by acclaimed actor/director Tim Perez (Vancouver, BC), composer Wes Hambright, video by Jose Garcia Davis and costumes by Susie Cox (Dallas, TX).
Transitions (Jun 18 – Jun 27)
Transitions is a trilogy of one act plays that deal with ordinary people struggling with a call from God in their lives, which is insisting that they move forward, or else.
