Everyone in Agrabah used be bilingual. When Jafar first found the Genie’s magic lamp, he wished to divide Agrabah by language so that the people in the palace would Spanish and the people in the streets English. But Jafar would continue to speak both, giving him more power. When Aladdin meets Jazmin in the marketplace, initially they can’t communicate. But the animals are bilingual and help them. In the end, they fall in love, Jafar is vanquished and everyone in Agrabah is once again bilingual.
