There are opportunities in various capacities including, but not limited to, ushering at performances, assisting in the office, and helping with special events. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Applicants will be able to receive credit towards a college course and must commit at least 20 hours/week during business hours plus: Downtown L.A. Art Walk (every 2nd Thursday), evening and weekend events during the duration of your internship. The intern should have their own laptop and reliable transportation to get to and from our office in Downtown Los Angeles or utilize the public transport system. While this internship is unpaid, interns may receive complimentary passes to our shows and events.

Development Intern
Gain fund development experience in the Arts! The qualified candidate must be available from April 1st to October 1st (start date is flexible, but must be available September 18th for the Gala Benefit).

Responsibilities:
Conduct funding research (Businesses, foundations, government funding available)
Manage volunteers at special events
Update and maintain Development department records (contacts, proposals, meetings, etc)
Prepare letters, mailings, etc
Work with the Development Director to coordinate Gala Benefit (Organize invitation lists and invitation mailing, Follow up with Gala sponsors, manage guest lists, recruit and direct volunteers, Interface with vendors)
Send notes and make phone calls of appreciation to donors
Assist Development Director as needed

Desired skills and qualities:
Excellent Communication skills (in person, telephone, written)
Innovative, able to maximize productivity with limited resources
Professional, responsible, independent, and a team player
Intermediate-Advanced Microsoft office skills (word, excel, powerpoint)
Internet research

Educational Programming Intern
This intern would mainly be dedicated to the Summer Conservatory prep. The Summer Conservatory runs for the entire month of August and will require at least 20 hours/week.
Term 1: March – September
Term 2: October – February

Responsibilities:

Conduct grant funding research
Conduct local Arts Education programs research for possible collaborations
Assist in targeted recruitment of sponsors
Manage volunteers at special events
Prepare letters, mailings, faxes, etc.
Aid in student and school recruitment for programs
Create database of local schools for recruitment purposes

Conservatory specific tasks:
Aid in preparing student binders
Help with checking in students each morning
Aid in closing reception: procuring donations from local business, set-up/breakdown, programs, etc.

Literary Intern
Term 1: February – September
Term 2: October – January (for Playwrights Festival specifically)

Responsibilities:
Conduct preliminary reading of script submissions and provide feedback to Literary Manager
Conduct grant funding research
Manage volunteers at special events
Prepare letters, mailings, etc.
Input script submissions & playwrights into LATC Playwright Database
Help organize & create filing system for script submissions
Assist in procuring donations from local businesses for events: readings, workshops, Annual Playwrights Festival
Assist Literary Manager as needed

Desired skills and qualities:
Theater background either as practitioner or student (Theater-related B.A. preferred); must have ability to read plays for not only content but also for potential for production at the LATC.
Excellent Communication skills (in person, telephone, written)
Innovative, able to maximize productivity with limited resources
Professional, punctual, responsible, independent and a team player
Intermediate-Advanced Microsoft office skills (word, excel, powerpoint)

PR/Marketing Intern
The LATC Marketing Department is seeking an energetic, organized, and creative Marketing Interns to join our team ASAP. This person(s) will be a vital part of the Marketing team and gain extensive experience in public relations, sales and marketing. The qualified candidate must be interested in both Public Relations and Marketing to help build the LATC’s brand Lots of opportunity to customize a project that interests student and makes the best use of his/her strengths and education.

Responsibilities:
Assist with event listings, all media outreach, event & program website postings
Market research including consumer and trade magazines, social media, blogs, and other media outlets
Evaluating advertising opportunities and partnerships
Press Releases and product-related pieces to publish on website and e-newsletter and related industry sites
Organizing and editing media
Update all social network sites: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and the LATC blog
Assist Marketing Team as needed

Must be web savvy
Highly proficient in both MAC & PC platforms, Adobe Editing Suite: Photoshop & Illustrator, Video editing: Final Cut or iMovie
