ROBEY THEATRE COMPANY RECEIVED 7 NAACP NOMINATIONS

ROBEY THEATRE COMPANY RECEIVES SEVEN NAACP THEATRE AWARD NOMINATIONS.

Robey Theatre Company, Los Angeles’ most acclaimed African-American theatre company, received seven nominations this week from the NAACP Theatre Awards:

Best ensemble: The cast of “The River Niger.”
Best ensemble: The cast of “Bronzeville.”
Best director: Ben Guilory, “Bronzeville.”
Best playwrighting: Timothy Toyama and Aaron Woolfolk, “Bronzevile.”
Best production: “The River Niger.” Robey Theatre Company and Ben Guillory.
Best set design: John Paul Luckenback, “The River Niger.”
Best lighting: Luke Moyer, “Bronzeville.”

The Robey Theatre Company presents plays that open windows onto the global Black experience. The NAACP Theatre Awards will be handed out in a ceremony on August 30 at the Directors Guild of America building.

In other news, CBS has continued its ongoing support of the Robey Theatre Company by awarding it a new $10,000 grant.

The next show from Robey will be the World Premiere engagement of “The Reckoning” by Kimba Henderson. It opens September 25 at Los Angeles Theatre Center.
