The 1974 Tony Award winning THE RIVER NIGER, Joseph A. Walker’s explosive play about a Harlem family.
Dwain A. Perry directs the piece featuring Margaret Avery and Ben Guillory in the roles of Mattie and Johnny Williams, reuniting them 25 years later after they contributed major roles in Steven Spielberg’s film “The Color Purple”, for which Ms. Avery received an Oscar nomination. The cast also includes Sola Bamis, Cydney Davis, Dane Diamond, Walter Fauntleroy, Marquis Horace, Diarra Kilpatrick, Tarnue Massaquoi, Alex Morris, Anthony B. Phillips, and Kellie Roberts.
